We Didn’t Talk About Baby…

ree

Okay, okay… we’re talking about baby now.

We had our 20-week ultrasound recently—after navigating a gauntlet of construction, traffic, and just a sprinkle of overconfidence in how long it takes to find parking in a medical plaza. We showed up a bit more than a few minutes late (don’t worry, we’ve punished ourselves emotionally), only to find that baby had also decided to be fashionably delayed.

Curled up like a miracle-in-waiting, not cooperating, not budging. The sonographer tried all the tricks— gentle pressure, every sort of body position, some light narration worthy of a telenovela. Nothing.

And then we walked in.

Suddenly, a stretch. Roll. Pose. Like someone had cued the house music and the curtain lift. The star had arrived.

We’re thrilled to share that our gestational carrier is doing amazingly. She is strong and centered and carrying this baby with so much grace it feels like watching Casita rebuild itself after the third act. She’s magical, full stop.

As for baby… every little detail we got to see made our hearts swell. Fingers. Toes. A dramatic profile shot that’s definitely going in the yearbook one day. It felt like the first time someone turned the lights up on the family Madrigal door and whispered, “This is your gift.”

And then, we found out what that gift will be. It’s a girl! She may not have a glowing door just yet, but her light? It's already shining through.

We're halfway to meeting her, and she's already made this house feel more enchanted. If you’ve been following this journey with us, sending love, lifting us up, or simply cheering from afar, we see you. And we thank you.

If you’d like to help us prepare for her arrival, we’ve put together a registry full of things this miracle might need (less magic candle, more crib sheets and changing pads).

Thank you for being a part of our casita.
Thank you for being a part of our casita.

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Here we will be sharing about our journey together toward dad-hood. It takes a village to raise a child, and a even larger village for an LGBT couple to get one. Please consider donating to help us reach our dream.
